Origin & Heritage
Kanjivaram silk comes from Kanchipuram, a temple town in Tamil Nadu with over 400 years of weaving history. Mysore silk originates from Karnataka, woven under the royal patronage of the Mysore kingdom and today produced by the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC).
The Fabric
Kanjivaram is woven with pure mulberry silk threads twisted three times for extra strength, interwoven with real gold or silver zari. The result is a heavy, stiff saree with an unmistakable lustre that holds its shape beautifully.
Mysore silk uses a single-ply pure mulberry silk thread, giving it a significantly lighter, softer feel. The zari used is real gold zari certified by the KSIC, but the overall weight is much less than a Kanjivaram.
Drape & Feel
Kanjivaram drapes with structure — the heavy fabric creates crisp pleats and a full, voluminous pallu. It takes a little more effort to drape but looks magnificent once set.
Mysore silk drapes effortlessly — lightweight and fluid, it falls naturally and is far more comfortable to wear through a long event or a full working day.

How to Identify Authenticity
Genuine Kanjivaram sarees have a distinctive feature — the border and body are woven separately and then interlocked, so you can see a slight V-shaped join on the inside. Authentic Mysore silk sarees carry a KSIC silk mark on the packaging.
